Francisco (Paco) Martorell is codirector of the California Education Lab and an associate professor at the UC Davis School of Education. His research focuses on developmental education in colleges; the effects of grade retention; the returns to for-profit colleges; the impacts of school facility investments; and community college tuition subsidies. He was previously an economist at the RAND Corporation and a professor at the Pardee-RAND Graduate School. He received his PhD in economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
