Jacqueline M. Kumar is a former researcher with the Education Policy Initiative at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where her work focused on building trust in schools, transformational leadership, and teacher working conditions, belonging, satisfaction, retention, and preparation. She was previously an external relations manager at The Education Trust—West, where she trained community-based organizations on monitoring and evaluation and developed policy tools to highlight educational opportunity gaps. She also served as an education program fellow at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, leading monitoring and evaluation for the education program and supporting teacher-focused grant initiatives. Earlier in her career, she was a special assistant at Citizen Schools, a consultant with UNICEF’s Governance, United Nations, and Multilateral Affairs Division, and a program assistant at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. Kumar earned her PhD in education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
