Arun Ramanathan is the chief executive officer of PowerMyLearning, where he leads efforts to advance educational equity through technology-driven learning solutions. He was previously CEO of Pivot Learning, an Oakland-based nonprofit that partnered with K–12 schools nationwide to improve instruction in English and math. He also served as executive director of Education Trust—West, leading policy and advocacy efforts to close achievement and opportunity gaps for low-income students and students of color. Ramanathan was formerly a chief student services officer for San Diego Unified School District, overseeing special education, mental health, nursing, and counseling programs. He has held research and leadership roles in Los Angeles Unified School District. An immigrant and former English learner, he has contributed opinion pieces on education policy and served on multiple nonprofit and philanthropic boards. He earned his MEd in elementary and special education from Boston College and a doctorate in administration, policy, and social planning from Harvard University.
