Carolyn J. Heinrich
Carolyn J. Heinrich is the Patricia and Rodes Hart Professor of Public Policy, Education, and Economics in the Peabody College of Education and Human Development, and the University Distinguished Professor of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations in the College of Arts and Science at Vanderbilt University. She holds secondary appointments as professor of economics in the Department of Economics with Vanderbilt A&S and as professor of health policy in the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She has served as president of both the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management and of the Public Management Research Association. Her research focuses on education, workforce development, social welfare policy and poverty reduction, program evaluation, and public management and performance management issues. She works closely with federal, state, and local governments, as well as international nongovernmental organizations like the World Bank and UNICEF to improve policy and program design and effectiveness. Heinrich earned a PhD in labor economics and urban political economics from the University of Chicago.
