Chantal Francois
Chantal Francois is an assistant professor with the Department of Instructional Leadership and Professional Development in the College of Education at Towson University; she was previously an assistant professor at Rutgers University and a lecturer at Teachers College at Columbia University, and before that worked New York City public schools as an English teacher and school leader. Through qualitative inquiry, Francois's research portrays counternarratives to the backdrop of adolescent literacy in schools, focusing especially on the experiences of Black and Latinx youth. She also works as a research and teaching consultant for schools across the country. Her research has been featured in such journals as Harvard Educational Review, Teachers College Record, and Education and Urban Society; and her research has been distinguished with both a Jeanne S. Chall Doctoral Student Research Award from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a National Academy of Education Adolescent Literacy Predoctoral Fellowship. Francois received a joint EdD and EdM from Harvard University.
