Dave Calhoun retired in 2017 as the executive director of research, evaluation and assessment (REA) for the Fresno Unified School District, but he continues to serve on the national SEL Assessment Work Group facilitated by CASEL. With Fresno Unified, he conducted and directed multiple program evaluations for both foundation and USED grant-funded projects; developed and implemented a performance-based assessment system; and managed state and district assessment programs. He has participated as a Fresno Unified representative with the CORE collaborative since its inception, functioning as Fresno’s CORE waiver lead and as the data lead. For the past 10 years, he has been an adjunct instructor in the graduate program at California State University, Fresno, in both research/statistics and in the marriage and family therapy program, a field in which he holds a master's degree.
