David R. Pacheco is the past director of the California Senate Fellows Program at California State University, Sacramento, one of the nation's oldest and most distinguished service-learning programs. His dual career in academia and public policy includes serving as director of communications and intercultural studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and as faculty and field studies coordinator for the New College at San José State University. Pacheco also held roles as principal consultant to the California State Assembly's Business and Professions Committee and senior consultant to the California Senate Select Committee on the Pacific Rim. Pacheco earned his MA in administration of higher education from San José State University and both his MA in education administration and policy analysis and his EdD in sociology of education from Stanford University.
