Dennis P. Jones is president emeritus of the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems (NCHEMS), where he has been a member of the staff since 1969. He is widely recognized for his work in developing public agendas to guide state higher education policymaking; creating financing, budgeting, and resource allocation methodologies for use at both state and institutional levels; linking higher education with states’ workforce and economic development needs; and developing and using information to inform policymaking. Prior to NCHEMS, he served as an administrator in business and institutional planning at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Jones has written numerous monographs and articles on these topics, presented his work at various regional, national, and international conferences, and consulted with hundreds of institutions and state higher education agencies on management issues. Jones earned his BS and MS in management engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
