Gary Hoachlander is president and CEO of ConnectED: The National Center for College and Career, where he has led efforts to expand college and career pathways for nearly two decades. Previously, he served as chairman of MPR Associates, Inc., a research and consulting firm specializing in education policy and workforce development. A leading expert in career and technical education, Hoachlander has consulted extensively for the U.S. Department of Education, state education agencies, and local school districts. He began his career as a brakeman for the Western Maryland Railroad before transitioning to education policy and practice. Hoachlander earned his BA in urban affairs from Princeton University and both an MCP and PhD in city and regional planning from the University of California, Berkeley.
