Elizabeth B. Miller is an assistant professor in the Department of Population Health in the Grossman School of Medicine at New York University (NYU). Dr. Miller was formerly an assistant professor at the NYU Institute of Human Development and Social Change (IHDSC), where she is still research director for SMART Beginnings. Her research primarily focuses on the environmental contexts in which children spend the most time during their early childhood years and how these environments interact with each other and shape children’s development. She uses a developmental perspective to study early childhood policies and programs and how they can increase low-income children’s school readiness and is especially interested in the effectiveness of these policies and programs for groups of children at-risk for school readiness. She also studies the infant and toddler years and how pediatric primary care can serve as a site for educational intervention delivery. Dr. Miller holds a PhD in education policy and social context from the University of California, Irvine, an EdM from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a BA in economics from Columbia University.
