New York University

Elizabeth B. Miller is an assistant professor in the Department of Population Health at New York University's Grossman School of Medicine. She was formerly an assistant professor at the NYU Institute of Human Development and Social Change, where she is still research director for SMART Beginnings. Her research focuses on the environmental contexts in which children spend their early years and on how these environments interrelate to shape children’s development. Using a developmental perspective, she also studies early childhood policies and programs to understand how they increase low-income children’s school readiness; she is especially interested in these policies' and programs' effectiveness for children at-risk of school readiness. A further interest is how pediatric primary care can serve as a site for educational intervention delivery, especially for infants and toddlers. Miller received her PhD in education policy and social context from the University of California, Irvine.
