Eric Hartwig is former superintendent of the Portola Valley School District. He previously served as superintendent of the Las Lomitas Elementary School District and as principal of Menlo-Atherton High School. Earlier in his career, Hartwig was district director and administrator of Pupil Services for the Marathon County Children with Disabilities Education Board; an adjunct professor for educational leadership and policy analysis at the University of Wisconsin–Madison; and an adjunct professor and research advisor for Cardinal Stritch College Milwaukee and Aurora University, Wisconsin Campus. He began his career as an English teacher before becoming assistant principal at Capuchino High School. Hartwig received his MS in school psychology from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse and his PhD in educational administration from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
