Eugene García
Eugene García is professor emeritus and former dean of the Mary Lou Fulton College of Education at Arizona State University (ASU). He also had the position of vice president for education partnerships at ASU; served as professor and dean of the UC Berkeley School of Education; was a National Research Council Fellow and a postdoctoral fellow in human development at Harvard University; served as professor and dean of the Social Sciences Division at the University of California, Santa Cruz; was faculty at the University of Utah and the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has served as a senior officer in the U.S. Department of Education and chaired the National Task Force on Early Education for Hispanics. García has been honored for his research contributions, and has authored or coauthored over 200 articles and book chapters, and 14 books and monographs on language teaching and bilingual development. He holds leadership positions in professional organizations and continues to serve in an editorial capacity for psychological, linguistic, and educational journals, and as a proposal panel reviewer for federal, state, and foundation agencies. García received his PhD in human development from the University of Kansas.
