Evan White is the co-founder and executive director of the California Policy Lab (CPL) at the University of California, Berkeley, where he works at the intersection of research, law, and technology to inform data-driven policy solutions. He helped launch CPL to strengthen the capacity of California’s state and local governments to make evidence-based policy decisions and has led initiatives on tax policy, public assistance programs, and migration trends in the state. He was previously a senior advisor to the director and counsel at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and served as fair housing director at Project Sentinel Fair Housing. He also clerked for the California Supreme Court, the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, and the White House Office of Management and Budget. White earned his JD and an MPP from the University of California, Berkeley.
