Fiona Hollands
Fiona Hollands is a senior researcher in the Department of Education Policy and Social Analysis at Teachers College, Columbia University. She is also the founder and director of EdResearcher and was previously an associate researcher with the Center for Benefit-Cost Studies of Education (CBCSE) at Columbia. Her goals are to understand and improve how decisions are made in education by providing information and tools to decision-makers that will allow them to optimize the use of limited resources. She applies economic evaluation methods such as cost analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, and cost-utility analysis to educational programs. She develops software and other tools to assist education decision-makers in gathering and using evidence to inform their decisions, and to facilitate the application of economic evaluation by other researchers. She has a particular interest in educational technology and studying how it can be used to improve equitable and efficient access to education. Dr. Hollands holds a PhD in politics and education and an MA in sociology and education jointly from Columbia University along with an BA in in pure and applied biology from Oxford University.
