Fiona Hollands

Fiona Hollands is a senior researcher in the Department of Education Policy and Social Analysis at Teachers College, Columbia University. She is also the founder and director of EdResearcher and was previously an associate researcher with the Center for Benefit-Cost Studies of Education at Columbia. Her goal is to understand and improve how decisions are made in education by providing decision-makers the information and tools that will allow them to optimize the use of limited resources. She applies economic evaluation methods such as cost analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, and cost-utility analysis to educational programs. She develops software and other tools to assist education decision-makers in gathering and using evidence to inform their decisions and to facilitate the application of economic evaluation by other researchers. Hollands received both her MA in sociology and education and her PhD in politics and education from Columbia University.
