Greg J. Duncan is Distinguished Professor of Education in the School of Education at the University of California, Irvine, as well as an adjunct faculty member at the Institute for Policy Research at Northwestern University. He is an economist by training, and his research examines how early childhood skills and behaviors influence later-life outcomes, with a focus on poverty, income inequality, and educational interventions. He is a member of the interdisciplinary MacArthur Network on the Family and the Economy and has served as president of the Population Association of America and of the Society for Research in Child Development. His contributions have been recognized with election to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Education. He received his PhD in economics from the University of Michigan.
