Jordan A. Carlson
Jordan A. Carlson is a research associate professor of pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine; he is also director of Community-Engaged Health Research in the Children’s Mercy Research Institute at Children’s Mercy Kansas City. His background is in physical activity behavior change science, epidemiology, and measurement; his work aims to better understand the influences and health impacts of physical activity and sedentary behavior in both youth and adults. He is particularly interested in improving the uptake of environment and policy approaches for supporting physical activity in youth, and in using technology and multisource data to design and inform school- and community-based physical activity programs and policies. He completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in cardiovascular decease epidemiology and prevention. Carlson received his MA in experimental psychology from San Diego State University and his PhD in public health jointly from the University of California, San Diego, and San Diego State University.
