Kylie Peppler is professor of informatics in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences and professor of education in the School of Education at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). An artist by training, she engages in research that focuses on the design of new technologies to support learning and participation within traditionally minoritized populations, particularly at the intersection of the arts and STEM learning ecosystems. Dr. Peppler was previously associate professor of learning sciences at Indiana University Bloomington, a visiting scholar at the Stanford Graduate School of Education, and a research assistant at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She is also director of The Creativity Labs and co-director of The Connected Learning Lab at UCI, where she brings together educators, designers, artists, and learning theorists interested in supporting learning by leveraging youths' interests in digital culture, design, and making. Her studies have been published in leading journals in the fields of education, technology and the arts; and she has received several awards for her work, including Mira Tech Educator of the Year and the Indiana Governor's Award for Tomorrow’s Leaders. She sits on the Editorial Boards for the International Journal for Computer Supported Collaborative Learning and Computer Science Education. Dr. Peopler holds a PhD in urban schooling from UCLA and a BA in studio art, psychology, and French from IU Bloomington.
