Lora Cohen-Vogel
Lora Cohen-Vogel is the Frank A. Daniels Jr. Endowed Chair and Distinguished Professor of Public Policy and Education in the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), where she studies programs and practices that are successful in raising schooling outcomes for traditionally underserved students in the United States. Dr. Cohen-Vogel was formerly the Robena and Walter E. Hussman, Jr. Endowed Chair of Policy and Education Reform and currently directs the doctorate program in Policy, Leadership and School Improvement while overseeing the Interprofessional Graduate Certificate in Improvement Science and Implementation on behalf of the UNC School of Education. She was previously an associate professor at Florida State University. Dr. Cohen-Vogel also served as vice president of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and as associate director of the National Center for Scaling Up Effective Schools (NCSU) at Vanderbilt University. She presently sits as an appointed member on the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine's (NASEM) committee on the Future of Education Research. In North Carolina, she is currently partnering with local education agencies as well as the UNC School of Government's ncIMPACT initiative to develop an improvement-focused infrastructure in school districts and local education collaboratives across the state. Dr. Cohen-Vogel holds a PhD in leadership, policy, and organizations from Vanderbilt University along with a dual BA in education and psychology from Colgate University.
