Margaret Gaston was president and executive director of the Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning at WestEd. She previously served as vice chair of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and as a consultant and administrator for the California Department of Education, overseeing Community Education, the School Improvement program, and the School Program Quality Review. Earlier in her career, she was an elementary school teacher, a categorical programs coordinator, and a high school vice principal. She is currently advises under her firm Gaston Education Policy Consultants. Gaston is recognized as a distinguished alumna of education at San Diego State University and received the SDSU Monty Award.
