Margaret Gaston is founder, president, and executive director of the Center for the Future of Teachers and Learning at WestEd. She was formerly vice chair of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and has worked as a consultant and administrator for the California Department of Education, where she oversaw Community Education, the School Improvement program, and the School Program Quality Review. She has been an elementary school teacher, a categorical programs coordinator, and a high school vice principal. Gaston is a graduate and distinguished alumna of the College of Education at  San Diego State University.
