Michelle D. Young
Michelle D. Young is dean and professor at the Berkeley School of Education. She was previously dean and professor of educational leadership and policy in the School of Education at Loyola Marymount University, and professor of educational leadership and policy, and chair of the department of education leadership, foundations, and policy at the University of Virginia. Dr. Young served as executive director of the University Council for Educational Administration for almost 20 years. Young is also a faculty director at Policy Analysis for California Education (PACE) and a member of the board of WestEd, SOAR, and the Council of Deans for Research Education Institutions. Young has coedited or coauthored 11 books and more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Dr. Young’s scholarship focuses on leadership and critical policy analysis. Among her awards and honors are the William J. Davis Award for most outstanding article; an Emerald Literati Award for Excellence; and the prestigious Edwin M. Bridges Award for her contributions to research on the preparation of education leaders. Dr. Young received her PhD in educational policy, planning, and leadership from The University of Texas at Austin.
