Michelle Spiegel
Michelle Spiegel is a postdoctoral researcher with the Educational Opportunity Project in the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University. She has also been a graduate student researcher with the School of Education at the University of California, Irvine; a junior research scientist with the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University; and a teaching fellow with Citizen Schools. Her research focuses on inequalities in K–12 education, and on how policy can improve educational opportunities for low-income students. Her research uses both descriptive and quasi-experimental methods. In addition to studying educational inequalities, she is interested in the history and sociology of education policy knowledge. Spiegel received her MA in public administration from New York University and her PhD in education from the University of California, Irvine.
