Neal Halfon is founding director of the UCLA Center for Healthier Children, Families, and Communities, and directs the Child and Family Health Leadership and Training Program in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. He is a distinguished professor of pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, health policy and management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, and public policy at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. Halfon has played a pivotal role in shaping U.S. health policy and reform, contributing to the development of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) and advising the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on its evaluation. He co-chaired the national consensus conference hosted by the Association for Health Services Research to develop a national research agenda on improving the quality of child health care in the U.S. He also collaborated with former Vice President Al Gore on the Blue Sky Health Initiative, aiming to reform the American healthcare system. Halfon earned an MD from the University of California, Davis, and an MPH from the University of California, Berkeley.
