Paul G. Fitchett is professor and head of the Department of Curriculum and Teaching in the College of Education at Auburn University. He previously served as assistant dean for teaching and innovation at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte; there, he supported curriculum development and faculty adoption of practice-based pedagogies. He formerly taught in public schools in Charlotte and in Raleigh, North Carolina. His research and writing focus on the intersections of education policy, teacher working conditions, and student learning outcomes, with a particular emphasis on social studies education. His work has been published in the Journal of Teacher Education, Educational Policy, Teachers College Record, Theory & Research in Social Education, and Teaching and Teacher Education. He is an associate editor for Theory & Research in Social Education. Fitchett received his EdD in curriculum and instruction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
