Robert A. Petrin
Robert A. Petrin is senior vice president and director of Data Analytics and Applied Sciences (DAAS) at Ipsos. Dr. Petrin was formerly a research scientist with the Center for Educational and Applied Developmental Science (CEADS) at Penn State University, where he was a postdoctoral researcher with The Methodology Center. He was also a predoctoral fellow with the NORC Data and Development Center at the University of Chicago, where he served on the Data Science Institute (DSI) industry advisory board for the Master of Science Program in Analytics (MScA). Dr. Petrin is sociologist and applied statistician with over 15 years of experience in quantitative social science research. His methodological expertise is in longitudinal data analysis, probability and nonprobability sampling, evaluation design, RCTs and CRTs, GLMs, empirical Bayes modeling, latent class analysis, and missing data with particular substantive interests in social change, the intersection of economic and social phenomena, and education. Dr. Petrin holds a PhD in sociology from the University of Chicago, an MAS in applied statistics from Penn State University, an MA in American studies from the University of Notre Dame, and a BA in physics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).
