Sebastian Castrechini is a research associate at the John W. Gardner Center for Youth and Their Communities at Stanford University. His mixed-methods research draws on sociological, organizational, and psychological frameworks to examine relationships between settings and youth development. His recent work focuses on the equity implications of the organizational systems that stratify opportunities for students to develop and sustain a sense of belonging, particularly as they transition from middle to high school and as they explore their ethnic-racial identies; he also explores outcomes for English learner students. Castrechini received his PhD in human development and social policy from Northwestern University.
