Simon Kim is a professor of educational psychology in the School of Education and serves as the associate vice president for research and economic development at California State University, Long Beach. In this role, he leads the Office of Research and Economic Development, fostering a campus environment conducive to research and scholarly activities. Kim has extensive experience in academic strategic planning and assessment, with a focus on educational partnerships, accountability, culturally diverse students, and program evaluation. He has played a leadership role in developing student success initiatives, regional collaborative education partnerships, and programs supporting underserved AAPI communities. Kim earned a BA in mathematics from Westminster College, an MA in operations research from the University of Kentucky, and a PhD in educational psychology from the University of Southern California.
