Xueli Wang
Xueli Wang is the Barbara and Glenn Thompson Professor in Educational Leadership in the College of Education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Dr. Wang was previously associate director of Institutional Research and Assessment at Knox College and senior research associate for Student Life Research and Assessment at The Ohio State University. She was formerly a senior lecturer in the English Department at Beijing International Studies University (BISU). Dr. Wang teaches graduate courses on community colleges, mixed methods research in education, and assessment in higher education. Often centering community and technical colleges, her research spans a range of topics, including students’ success and mental health; transfer trajectories; faculty development; teaching and learning; and educational change and innovation. She has been honored with the 2021 Transfer Champion-Catalyst Award by the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students, the 2020 Barbara Townsend Lecture Award by the Association for the Study of Higher Education, and the 2020 University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Education’s Faculty Distinguished Achievement Award. Dr. Wang earned a PhD in higher education and an MA in higher education and student affairs, along with a cognate in educational psychology and a minor in quantitative research methods, collectively from The Ohio State University. She also holds an MA in applied linguistics and a BA in English language and literature from Beijing International Studies University (BISU).
