Magaly Lavadenz
Magaly Lavadenz holds the Leavey Presidential Endowed Chair in Ethics and Moral Leadership and is founding executive director of the Center for Equity for English Learners at the School of Education at Loyola Marymount University. Her research addresses the intersections and impacts of policies and practices for culturally and linguistically diverse students, their teachers, and school leaders. She has published articles, chapters, monographs, and books, including Questioning Our Practices: Bilingual Teacher–Researchers and Transformative Inquiry and, with coeditor Anaida Colón Muñiz, Latino Civil Rights in Education: La Lucha Sigue. A community-engaged scholar–activist, Lavadenz has held leadership positions at Californians Together, the California Association for Bilingual Education, the California Association for Bilingual Teacher Education, and the California Council on Teacher Education. Lavadenz received her PhD from the University of Southern California.
