Glen Harvey

Glen Harvey is a distinguished leader in education, having served as chief executive officer (CEO) of WestEd for more than a quarter century, where she transformed the organization into a mission-driven, quality- and impact-focused agency until 2023. She currently advises Policy Analysis for California Education (PACE). Under her leadership, WestEd emphasized conducting the highest quality research-based work to promote excellence, achieve equity, and improve learning for children, youth, and adults. Harvey pioneered a cross-disciplinary approach to improving education and fostering human development from infancy to adulthood, while overseeing high-profile projects, rigorous research studies, and professional learning. She also launched WestEd 2020, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing agency values and fostering collaborative work across programs. Her leadership positioned WestEd as a national leader in research, development, and service, particularly in supporting high-needs students and communities, including students with disabilities, English Learners, and those in rural or low-income areas. Dr. Harvey holds a PhD in philosophy of education from Stanford University and degrees in social and philosophical foundations of education from the University of Kentucky.
