University of California, Davis

Ambar Hernandez Negrete is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior at the University of California, Davis. She was previously a postdoctoral researcher with the California Education Lab at UC Davis. Her research examines the intersection of education policy, school organization, and student experiences, with a focus on how race-conscious and race-neutral policies impact the educational attainment of historically underrepresented students. Inspired by her experiences as a neurodiverse immigrant from Oaxaca, México, navigating unfamiliar U.S. educational systems, she is passionate about advancing antiracist policies that create equitable learning environments where Latinx and other marginalized students of color can thrive. Hernandez Negrete earned her PhD in education with a concentration in school organization and educational policy from the University of California, Davis.
