Cassandra Merritt is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Economics at the University of California, Davis, and an affiliate of the California Education Lab in the UC Davis School of Education, where she has contributed to research on college and career readiness and secondary math curricula. She previously served as a field economist for the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. A labor economist specializing in the economics of education, Merritt examines the role of educational units such as courses in human capital formation, the efficacy of schools and education-related interventions, and the evolving landscape of work and labor markets. She also studies the determinants of changing work in the U.S., analyzing job title classifications over time. Merritt earned her BS in mathematical business economics from Hofstra University, a graduate diploma in economics from the London School of Economics (LSE), and an MSc in economics from the University of Edinburgh.
