Eric Hanushek

Eric Hanushek is the Paul and Jean Hanna senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. Internationally recognized for his economic analysis of education, his research has shaped policy in both developed and developing countries. He is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, area coordinator for economics of education at the CESifo Research Network, and a research fellow at the IZA Institute of Labor Economics. He serves on the National Assessment Governing Board, which sets policy for the National Assessment of Educational Progress, and has chaired the board of the National Board for Education Sciences. He previously served as deputy director of the Congressional Budget Office and held faculty positions at the University of Rochester, Yale University, and the U.S. Air Force Academy. A member of the National Academy of Education and the International Academy of Education, he is also a fellow of the Society of Labor Economists and the American Educational Research Association. Hanushek received the Yidan Prize for Education Research. A distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, he earned his PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
