Eric R. Eide

Eric R. Eide is the Clayne L. Pope Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at Brigham Young University. His research focuses on the economics of education and health economics, examining how education policies such as school spending and grade retention influence student outcomes, as well as labor market trends, returns to a college degree, and college quality. His work has been published in academic journals and cited in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. He previously worked at the RAND Corporation, where he was part of a management team assisting Qatar in reforming its K–12 education system. He served as an associate editor for Economics of Education Review and remains on its board of editors. Eide earned an MS and BS in economics from Brigham Young University and a PhD in economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
