Guillermo Solano-Flores
Guillermo Solano-Flores is professor of education at the Stanford University Graduate School of Education. His research uses psychometrics, sociolinguistics, semiotics, and cognitive science to explore the intersection of assessment, language, and fairness. He has authored the theory of test translation error; investigated the use of generalizability theory in testing English language learners and indigenous populations; and explored use of Boolean algebra in complex coding endeavors. His current research examines systemic factors that shape mathematics course-taking patterns in middle and high school students; formative assessment practices in science classrooms; and the design of testing interfaces for large-scale computer- and tablet-administered tests. He is also a testing and measurement expert on the National Assessment Governing Board. Solano-Flores received his PhD in education from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
