Hirokazu Yoshikawa is the Courtney Sale Ross University Professor of Globalization and Education at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University, where he is also a University Professor. Previously, he was the Walter H. Gale Professor of Education and an academic dean at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. His research examines how early childhood development, immigration policy, and poverty-reduction strategies impact children’s well-being and social mobility, with a particular focus on public policies in low- and middle-income countries. He codirected Global TIES for Children, a research center dedicated to improving child and youth development in conflict-affected settings. He is a member of the National Board on Education Sciences, a trustee of the William T. Grant Foundation, and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His contributions have been recognized with honors including the Society for Research in Child Development Award for Distinguished Contributions to Public Policy and Practice and an honorary doctorate from Utrecht University. Yoshikawa received his PhD in psychology from New York University​.
