James Larimore is co-founder and chair of the EdSAFE AI Alliance, leading efforts to ensure AI in education is safe, equitable and effective. He previously served as chief officer for equity in learning at Riiid Labs, where he launched AI-driven strategies to close equity gaps, and as head of the Center for Equity in Learning at ACT. Earlier, he directed student success initiatives at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. A longtime leader in student affairs, Larimore was dean of students at Dartmouth, Swarthmore, and Amherst, associate vice chancellor at NYU Abu Dhabi, and former assistant dean at Stanford. He also serves on the boards of the Institute for Higher Education Policy, The NROC Project, and Branch Alliance for Educator Diversity, and Matriculate. Larimore earned his MA in education from Stanford University.
