Sarah Winchell Lenhoff

Sarah Winchell Lenhoff is the Leonard Kaplan Endowed Professor and an associate professor of educational leadership and policy studies in the College of Education at Wayne State University; she is also the founding director of the Detroit Partnership for Education Equity and Research. She has previously served as the director of research and policy at the Education Trust-Midwest. Her research examines how education and other social policies shape access to educational opportunity in urban public schools. She focuses on attendance and chronic absenteeism, school choice, school improvement and reform, and the connection between neighborhoods and educational opportunity. She began her career as a New York City Public Schools teacher. Lenhoff received her PhD in educational policy from Michigan State University.
