Introduction to California Education

At the 63rd Annual Meeting of the Comparative International Education Society (CIES) in San Francisco education experts from PACE, the Learning Policy Institute, and the Opportunity Institute will present a Plenary Session introducing California’s education system to education scholars and leaders from countries around the world. They will discuss the historical roots of the many challenges facing California’s schools and teachers, promising changes in the state’s education policy framework, and ongoing concerns about whether new policies will lead to meaningful improvements in the education provided to California students—especially those facing the greatest obstacles.
