Janet F. Brown was a program director at the Center for Improving Child Care on the Quality Research Team in the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, where she also directed the Desired Results Project. She was the founder and president of TEACH Rwanda, an organization dedicated to transforming early childhood and primary education in Rwanda through teacher mentoring and culturally relevant, evidence-based teaching practices. Brown was also a consultant with Art as a Way of Learning at Northampton Community College and served as managing editor for Crayola, editor of Young Children, director of publications for the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and editor of Dimensions of Early Childhood. In retirement, she contributes to early childhood education as a Head Start volunteer in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. Brown earned her MEd from Pennsylvania State University.
