Jeffrey Vincent

Jeffrey Vincent is the director of public infrastructure initiatives and co-founder of the Center for Cities + Schools, housed in the Institute of Urban and Regional Development at the University of California, Berkeley. He also serves as the director of the National Center on School Infrastructure, a U.S. Department of Education-funded technical assistance center housed in Berkeley’s Institute of Urban & Regional Development. His research focuses on equitable public school facilities and education workforce housing, examining how school infrastructure planning, design, and policy intersect with broader urban and community development efforts. His work has been published in peer-reviewed and practitioner-oriented journals, books, and policy reports on topics including school siting and design, sustainable communities, state school construction policies, joint use of schools, and youth engagement in redevelopment. He is also an instructor and graduate student mentor in the PLUS Fellows program. Vincent received the Berkeley Chancellor’s Award for Public Service, Research in the Public Interest, and earned his PhD in city and regional planning from the University of California, Berkeley.
